About

Hi!  Thanks for stopping by.  I’m assuming most people reading this blog already know me, but just in case you happened to stumble upon it randomly, or know me but are not particularly clear on what I’m doing with my life at the present moment, here is the general gist of things.

Currently, I am a PhD student working on my dissertation research in Tanzania on a Boren Fellowship.  I have a background in medical anthropology and am currently working on my degree in health and behavioral science research.  I’ll be spending ten months of 2013 in the field; the first two months studying Swahili in Morogoro and the latter eight at my field site in Ifakara.  I am interested in reproductive health and women’s cancers, as well as access to health care, screening, and treatment in the developing world.  The focus of my research here is on sociocultural factors that influence decision-making around cervical cancer screening.  I started this blog as a general way to keep track of my activities and stay in touch with folks back home.  Hope you enjoy!
